Lake kodai is a manmade lake located in the heart of Kodaikanal city. The lake is Kodaikanal's most popular geographic landmark and tourist attraction. The Lake offers splendid views round the year.
Lake kodai was created in in 1863 by the British and early missionaries from USA.
Currently there exists boat clubs, boathouses and boat services for the public and tourists.
The lake is star-shaped and is surrounded by lush green hills of the northwestern Palani Hill range, which is the main watershed for the Lake kodai.
