Hello guys, here's the loot I collected from my visit at Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, India:

Oh and do not forget to relish some Amritsar, while you're at it.

This particular snake was tricky to capture in the lens. This reptile was having his nice morning crawl round the hill side when it was disturbed by a group of Indian trekkers threading their way to Shivaji's Raigad Fort in the state of Maharashtra, India.

Hiss! scares the snake!

The snake had emerged from one of the crevices in the mountain cliffs adjoining the path leading to Shivaji Maharaj's Raigad fort and was surprised to encounter an unexpected party of troopers and started spear-heading in every possible direction. It generated a huge scare amongst the unsuspecting trekkers before it scuttled out of site onto adjoining bushes bordering the narrow path. I photographed this beauty as it darted past my left, not forgetting to mention that next it went from under me, as I jumped!! Indian Snakes are a beauty, but not when they scare you out like this one!.

Well, the crows calmed down, and got back to it's senses after this snake showed us the tail. It is critical for one to stay calm when one sees a snake, but seeing this incident. one can estimate 98% of the crowd jumps and shrieks when they encounter one of these poor crawling reptiles!

God save their species!

Bet you din't know this about this Indian Snake

This is a non venomous Indian snake found mostly in the parts of western India. This particular species is known commonly as the Ribbon Snake, or scientifically as Thamnophis sauritus. The Indian region has very few poisonous species of snakes. The famous venomous snakes include King Cobra, Indian Krait and the Russell's Viper. Most other Indian Snakes are non venomous and need not be feared from. The Indian Snake you can see in this photo is a Non-venomous agile Indian snake.

August 2008,
Kodaikanal,
India.

Kodaikanal lies in the heat of state of Tamil Nadu, India some 170 km away from city of Coimbatore.

Kodaikanal is known as the 'Princess of Hill stations'. I had previously seen many photos and heard a lot of talks about this paradise on earth. But when is set about my gear and tried myself to click some photos, I realized it was not a walk in the park! Clicking photos in Kodai was a tricky job especially because of the all the rain showers in the Kodai hill ranges. Kodaikanal offers scenery unlike any in India. The town is considered the second best hill station in the south of India, second only to Ooty. The climate here is cool, pleasant and quiet welcoming. Kodaikanal mainly thrives on tourism. Many travelers end up relishing the beauty of Kodai and get lost in the magic of the misty hills. You will find yourself pulled to the arms of serene hills, valleys, rivers, waterfalls and long stretches of woods. This photo was clicked when from the former part of the path leading to Kodaikanal hills. The hills of Kodaikanal offer sanctuary to every tourist seeking its shelter.

The photos in the following posts will take you through the beauty that we all have come to know as Kodaikanal!

PS: From the princess of hill stations I then journeyed to the King of hill stations: Ooty. But first, make sure you have seen all my best shots of Kodaikanal!
